Training
At RCM Farms, we believe young horses need to have their minds kept busy and productive early on in life in order to progress into successful competition or pleasure horses that are able to adapt easily in different situations and environments.

Beginning at the weanling stage, each youngster goes through periodic schooling lessons, learns how to lead, load on a trailer, stand for the farrier, etc. This provides an easier transition when it's time for them to start under saddle.

Our young horse program is as follows:

Weanlings and Yearlings are trained to wear a halter, lead, stand for the farrier and have hooves trimmed, crosstying, bathing, and trimming. They are handled regularly and introduced to new things that would normally spook a young horse.

2 year olds
If no previous training has been started, we begin with weanling/yearling training and progress on to introducing the bridle and saddle. We also start some light lunging. We include mounting with walking and light trot work.

3 year olds
If no previous training has been started, we begin with weanling/yearling training, move into 2 year old training, and then progress on to training under saddle at a walk, trot, and canter/lope. We then move on to finishing work in the specific discipline desired by the owner.

We also offer trailer parking at our facility, for our trailer-in patrons, for no extra charge.
Finishing Programs
We offer training for both horse and rider in Cutting, Reining, Barrel Racing, and Western Pleasure. We also offer a tune-up program for those horses who have been on pasture vacation.

We are happy to announce that our barn manager, Jennifer Cutchens, is also a veterinary technician. We are excited to have her expertise on-board!
